Chinese Metaverse Industry Raises $780 Million In Funding

China’s Metaverse industry has reportedly raised around $780 million in funding, and the industry is expected to grow to $5.8 trillion by 2030. So far, there are 160,000 virtual human enterprises in China, and it is reported that 20 provinces and cities across the country support Metaverse.

 

Developing the Metaverse

According to local media reports, China Metaverse Industries has raised $780 million (5.46 billion yuan) in funding. The report added that in addition to the 160,000 "Chinese virtual human enterprises", about 20 provinces and cities have already supported Metaverse.

In addition, according to a Chinese news site, the market size of virtual worlds in China is expected to grow to $5.8 trillion by 2030. Meanwhile, two Chinese companies — Internet giant Tencent and one of China’s leading video game companies NetEase Yaotai — are competing and trying to find ways to develop virtual worlds, the report said.

Tencent is reportedly focused on promoting the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) with the real economy, while NetEase Yaotai is focused on using cloud gaming and AI to build a system that enhances interaction in the virtual world.

 

On the other hand, Liu Bai, the "head" of NetEase Yaotai, said his company has multiple types of event scenarios, as well as nearly "100 kinds of personalized clothing" for in-depth simulations. Bai also outlined what he sees as the key divisions of Metaverse. He said, "The most important positions in Metaverse are R&D, product planning, and art."
